- The Bućković family usually lives in the village of Dapsići near Berane, but they are one of the few families that still maintain the tradition of going to the katun (mountain hut). Every summer, they spend time on Cmiljevica, in the katun, where all the residents of Dapsići traditionally gather, as dictated by the customary law and traditions of this region. Tourism on the katun is a true rarity, and Marica and her husband are among the first families to pioneer this concept, setting an example for others. Here, you won’t find any luxury—everything is old-fashioned, simple, and modest, as dictated by the conditions and traditions. Katuns are true gems of Montenegro, and it would be a great loss not to visit them. The food on the katun is also special—everything is homemade, with simple meals that are full of flavor and beauty. You’ll enjoy warm homemade bread or fried dough (priganice), paired with high-quality mountain cheese, kajmak (clotted cream), homemade yogurt, and kačamak (cornmeal dish). You won’t need anything more, although Marica will ensure that your table isn’t too simple—we’ve tried it and know it firsthand! The Bućković family’s primary activity is agriculture. They have their own garden where they grow vegetables, fruit orchards, and produce juices and jams for their own needs and for their guests. With the Bućković family, you’re in the perfect place to explore Cmiljevica, a mountain located right between Hajla and Mokra. You’re on the katun path, which you can explore by bike or on foot, and Marica and her husband can help you find a horse if you’d like to go horseback riding.
