Kolašin Tour Guide
The Memorial House in Kolašin (Spomen dom) is a prominent cultural and historical complex built in the 1970s, dedicated to the memory of the Partisan struggle and the anti-fascist movement in Montenegro during World War II. The building is located in the town center and represents a typical example of Yugoslav memorial architecture, combining brutalist forms with symbolic expression. It houses a museum dedicated to the People’s Liberation Struggle, with exhibits including photographs, documents, weapons, and personal belongings of fighters from the Kolašin area. A large mural inside the building, created by renowned artists of the period, illustrates key moments of the war and the uprising. The complex also served as a cultural venue for decades—hosting events, commemorations, and local gatherings. Although its function has evolved over time, the Memorial House remains a striking reminder of the city’s central role in Montenegro’s resistance movement and its place in Yugoslav historical memory.
