Mojkovac Tour Guide
High above the town of Mojkovac, in the crisp mountain air, stands the Monument to the Heroes of the Battle of Mojkovac — a solemn tribute to the courage that altered the course of history. Erected in 1974, this proud figure watches over the land, surrounded by pine trees and sweeping views of the Bjelasica and Sinjajevina mountains. Here, in the frozen days of January 1916, the Montenegrin army, under the command of Duke Janko Vukotić, stood firm against a much larger Austro-Hungarian force. Their goal: to shield the retreat of the Serbian army across Albania. It was a moment not only of military valor, but of deep human solidarity. The monument itself is sculpted in a modernist style — a stone highlander holding a rifle, embodying strength, resolve, and dignity. Around him are marble plaques engraved with the names of the fallen, each a life woven into the fabric of freedom. This is not just a memorial — it is a symbol of ideals: honor, sacrifice, and brotherhood. To visit is to pay respect to those who, on the icy front lines of Mojkovac, chose to stand rather than fall back.
