Alipaša’s Springs

Just a few kilometers from Gusinje, at the foot of the towering Prokletije mountains, lies Alipaša’s Springs—a place where water gushes directly from stone and gives life to everything around it. Named after Ali Pasha of Gusinje, a local Ottoman leader from the 19th century, the springs are a symbol of nature’s abundance and historical memory. The spring emerges from beneath Vezirov Brijeg, forming the short but mighty Vruja River. During spring, when snow melts in the high peaks, the water surges with power, flowing across meadows that shimmer with green and wildflowers. A favorite picnic spot and nature escape, Alipaša’s Springs are easily accessible by road, yet feel a world apart. Wooden paths, clean air, and the sound of rushing water make it a perfect retreat. It is not just a natural wonder, but a sacred meeting place of people and landscape, of memory and life.
