In the heart of Bar, near the Adriatic coast, stands the Cathedral of St. Jovan Vladimir – the largest Orthodox church in Montenegro. Construction began in 2006, and the cathedral was consecrated on September 25, 2016, marking the millennium of the martyrdom of St. Jovan Vladimir, the patron saint of Bar. Designed by architect Peđa Ristić in the Serbian-Byzantine style, the cathedral measures 54 meters in length, 36.8 meters in width, and 44.5 meters in height to the top of the cross, accommodating approximately 1,200 worshippers. The interior features 4,860 m² of frescoes, a 1,700 m² floor mosaic, and an 18.5-meter-long iconostasis. Within the cathedral's courtyard stands a replica of Njegoš's chapel from Mount Lovćen, demolished during the communist era. The cathedral has become a spiritual and cultural center of the city, symbolizing the religious revival and identity of modern Bar.
