Fish Lake – The Mountain's Quiet Mirror

Gallery

In the southeastern part of Durmitor, near the village of Novakovići and just 500 meters from Devil's Lake, lies Fish Lake – one of the most accessible and tranquil glacial lakes in the region. Situated at an altitude of 1,409 meters, it is surrounded by gentle pastures and hills, making it ideal for walks, picnics, and photography. The lake measures approximately 340 meters in length and 220 meters in width, with a maximum depth of 5.5 meters. It is fed by melting snow and underground springs, losing water through evaporation. Once rich in fish, fishing is now occasionally prohibited to preserve the ecosystem. A medieval necropolis with tombstones is located nearby, adding cultural depth to the natural landscape. Fish Lake is a quiet yet powerful presence in the Durmitor landscape – a place where nature and history meet in harmony.
