Zabljak tour guide

On the slope above Žabljak, a hemispherical plateau holds a monumental tribute to the fallen fighters of the People’s Liberation Struggle. Designed by sculptor Ljubo Vojvodić, the composition is rich in symbolism – figures of fighters emerge from stone, accompanied by stylized stars and floral motifs, with a red star placed at the center. The monument appears to grow from the rock itself, echoing the mountain that once sheltered those who fought. The reliefs feature partisans, officers, peasants, and women in motion – all facing skyward, toward the symbol of freedom and the future. Today, this site is more than a memorial; it is a place where history, nature, and silent gratitude meet in harmony.
